Why Redcorate in Winter?

Redecorating in winter can feel like needless effort and expense, yet your surroundings powerfully shape your mood and mental health. When colder weather keeps us indoors and less active, the resulting stagnation can deepen seasonal blues. Put that extra indoor time to good use: reorganize drawers, declutter surfaces, and arrange furniture for better flow. Taking charge of your environment restores a sense of control and calm.

A quick refresh also adds novelty and comfort. Bring out thicker blankets, plush cushions, and cosy throws; place the heater where it works best; rotate in your winter wardrobe. Make your space so inviting that getting up each morning feels exciting. Invite a friend or family member to lend a hand—or simply admire the finished result.

Below are a few easy ideas to kick-start your winter restyle.

1. DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE BOLD WITH COLOUR

Don’t be afraid to go bold with your rooms walls and bring a pop of colour, a texture or a pattern that’s uniquely you.

Colour has a huge psychological and even physiological effect on the human body, altering our mood and perception, and moreover, it’s a little different for all of us. Depending on your experiences and taste, different hues elicit a slightly different reaction – maybe a happy memory assosciated with a specific blue, or a bad one assosciated with pink can alter your perception and response to those colours.

Whatever you choose, changing the colour of your walls, adding a feature wall, a piece of art or wallpaper, dramatically alters and more often than not, improves the liveliness of your space. It’s a big step and often requires some elbow grease but is well worth it in the end – we’ll have a in-depth article on colours and their impact coming up soon so stick around if you want to learn some more!
